THE ZOMBIES – ODESSEY & ORACLE (1968)

Album Review from AlohaPopRock-AlohaCriticon

Odessey and Oracle was a hidden gem of pop music and one of the most exquisite albums ever made. Rod Argent and Chris White were the main songwriters and they gave us a extraordinary collection of psychedelic pop and baroque pop with well-constructed songs, gorgeous arrangements and superb vocals. Their melodies and sensibility are outstanding.

The Zombies’ music is conveyed with the elegant and whispering voice of Colin Blunstone, the influential and jazzy Argent’s keyboard, the lively rhythm section and the guitar dexterity of Paul Atkinson.

Besides their famous Time Of The Season we can also enjoy beautiful songs as A Rose For Emily, Care Of Cell 44, Beechwood Park or Hung Up On a Dream. A pop masterpiece.
